XXI Master Class Vitiligo in Kazakhstan on September 22-23, 2016
This event marked an important date in the history of dermatology in Kazakhstan. 90 years ago, a new dermatovenereological clinic opened it's doors to inhabitants of Shymkent and local tribes in the south of the country. As years passed by, it grew into a modern hospital with 305 beds and a team of recognized specialists. It has also become a leading center of research and care for vitiligo in Central Asia.
Our Master Class was held alongside the Regional Conference Of Dermatovenereologists and Cosmetologists of Republic of Kazakhstan on September 23, 2016, under the co-presidency of Professors Gulnar R. Batpenova, Margulan M. Shakirov, Seitzhamal O. Pakeev and Gulmira B. Nurmagambetova. Over 150 specialists from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan attended presentations and specialized workshops.
The Master Class program was geared towards building practical skills in modern vitiligo treatment techniques. Lectures of the basics of vitiligo treatments and and results of most recent clinical trials were given by Yan Valle and Igor Korobko. Dr. Aliya A. Kassumkhanova led the hands-on demonstrations and live surgical procedures.
A first monograph on vitiligo treatments in Kazakh, Russian and English was presented at the conference.
Collaboration between VR Foundation and Regional Dermatovenereological Hospital on vitiligo research and care was praised by the Kazakh state officials as a life-changing endeavor, thanks to tireless efforts of Dr. Aliya A.Kassumkanova, under the supervision of the hospital general manager Prof. Gulmira B. Nurmagambetova.
