World Vitiligo Day 2016 in Canada
A vitiligo awareness party was swiftly organized at Woodbine Beaches, in Toronto, Canada, just in time for World Vitiligo Day 2016. The beach party was hosted by The Commission Records, and their talented hip-hop artist/producer and beat box champion Marcus Haran.
The Commission's owners Jay Dharma and Jameel Madhani were also in attendance, along with nearly 20 of their close friends and supporters. Marcus, a vitiligo carrier, is a passionate anti-bullying campaigner and advocate of the "Different Is Cool" message. He led the team by serenading beachgoers with his talented sounds for the entire afternoon, and engaged people of all walks of life to learn more about the condition, while handing out refreshing drinks and snacks.
The Commission and their friends managed to collect over 60 petitions lobbying public and private organisations to support the development treatments for Vitiligo. Hats off to Marcus, Jay, and Jameel who brought both good cheer and awareness to hundreds on this one fine sunny afternoon.
I support the petition to designate June 25 as Vitiligo World Day and save millions of people worldwide from social isolation and persecution.
