New Patient Engagement Tools For Pre-Clinical R&D and Medical Practice
Abstract for presentation at the Laser Florence 2013:
Patient Engagement Framework and Tools promise to re-energize healthcare. The suggested framework places an emphasis on patient-generated data, ranging from symptom assessments, care experience surveys and home monitoring data using currently available commercial and open source tools for use in pre-clinical R&D and medical practice. Methods and instruments of several categories of increasing complexity, ranging from provider information, e-tools, forms, patient-specific education, and patient-generated data will be discussed. Barriers to effective patient engagement will be identified. Special attention will paid to underserved patients, especially new generation, elderly and low-income people. Healthcare organizations and physicians today should allow themselves to be found with rich content and standard web tools, otherwise qualified patients will turn to competition.
