Avatar to the UN
Ever seen an AI avatar speak to the United Nations?
Well… you’re about to ☺️ With World Vitiligo Day - June 25th around the corner, our friends at VIPOC are rallying a global effort to get WVD officially reinstated on the UN or WHO calendar. And there’s a good reason for that.
Back in 2016, WVD was included in the UN’s Calendar of Disability Events — a major win for patient advocacy. But in 2019, the UN revised its criteria to include only high-level events run directly by its own agencies. Since WVD is independently organized, it was removed from the calendar. Then the pandemic hit… and the whole effort got shelved.
Now, we’re picking up where we left off — with more energy, more voices, and a few new tricks. Like AI avatars.
So I joined in. With a twist. I sent in my message using an AI avatar — because WVD 2025 is all about AI innovation, and sometimes the future looks like… well, a digital version of me blinking awkwardly.
🎥 Take a minute to watch it. Share it. Or don’t. But if you believe in turning awareness into action — start here.
