Efficacy and Safety of Apremilast in Combination with NBUVB and NBUVB Alone in Vitiligo Patients

Official title: Comparison Between Apremilast in Combination with NBUVB and NBUVB Alone in Vitiligo - a Randomized Controlled Trial

This study compares two treatments for non-segmental vitiligo: narrow-band ultraviolet B light therapy given on its own, and the same light therapy combined with apremilast, a tablet taken twice a day.

Participants are recruited from the dermatology outpatient department and placed in one of the two groups. One group receives light therapy plus apremilast 30 mg twice daily; the other receives light therapy alone. Comparing them shows whether adding the tablet makes a difference to how the skin responds.

Who can take part?

Adults aged 18 to 70, of either sex, with non-segmental vitiligo affecting more than 5% of the body surface.

Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are not eligible.

Anyone with an active infection at the time of joining is not eligible.

The study is run by Dow University of Health Sciences at one site in Pakistan and includes about 30 participants. It began in January 2025 and is expected to finish in March 2027. Taking part is by invitation from the study team.
