We are excited to announce that the World Vitiligo Day (WVD) 2023 is set to take place in the heart of Central Asia, Almaty, Kazakhstan. This year's theme, “Vitiligo: Looking into the Future,” aims to elevate awareness and understanding of vitiligo, a lifelong skin condition impacting millions worldwide.
From June 23rd through June 26th, the WVD will feature a series of dynamic events and programs across six cities in Kazakhstan, showcasing the latest advancements in vitiligo treatment, and facilitating an atmosphere for patient participation in managing their condition. The Honorary President of WVD-2023, Dr. Aliya Kassymkhanova, and Vice-President Dr. Anar Abdrakhmanova, along with a dedicated team of activists, will guide these initiatives.
Key Events in Kazakhstan:
- June 23rd: Clinical Day in Almaty, offering a unique, live, two-hour microsurgery demonstration on vitiligo treatment, supervised and commented on by the respected academician of the Italian Republic, Prof. Torello Lotti, MD.
- June 24th: Scientific Day features a vitiligo-focused half-day scientific and Q&A session, complemented by similar events in six dermatovenerological clinics across Kazakhstan. This day concludes with a networking event promoting peer-to-peer education and collaboration.
- June 25th: Patient Day centers on children and their caregivers at Shymkent's Vitiligo School.

- In Brussels, the Vitiligo International Patient Organisations Committee (VIPOC) organizes engaging workshops, advocacy endeavors, and collaborative projects.
- In the United States, WVD events are held in Atlanta, GA, presenting scientific discussions, including a keynote address by multiple Emmy award winner, Lee Thomas.
- The Mexican Vitiligo Foundation has planned a series of events on June 25th in four cities across Mexico, including: Mexico City, Chihuahua, Monterrey, and Guadalajara.
- Chinese activists organize full-day conference themed "To fight against Vitiligo together with you and me" at the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University in Shenyang.
- Virtual event of The Vitiligo Society UK will feature a fantastic lineup of inspirational and informative guest speakers.
The Vitiligo Research Foundation (VRF), in collaboration with esteemed partners such as the Health Ministry of Kazakhstan, the Aksenov Family Foundation, and Incyte, proudly presents WVD-2023, demonstrating a united global commitment towards a future free from vitiligo.
