FAQ
Why Does the IRS Still Show an Old Revocation for VR Foundation?
IRS Status · A Short FAQ
The old entry records the past. Publication 78 shows where VR Foundation stands today.
Updated August 2026 · EIN 45-2498489
Tax records are rarely elegant. This one is no exception.
Here is the situation in plain English.
Is VR Foundation currently tax-exempt?
Yes. The IRS currently lists VR Foundation, Inc. as a 501(c)(3) public charity eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions.

Why does the IRS website show a 2021 revocation?
The record shows that our status was automatically revoked on May 15, 2021, following an administrative filing problem.
That entry is historical. It does not describe our current status.
Why is the old entry still visible?
Because the IRS keeps organizations on its Auto-Revocation List even after their tax-exempt status has been restored. The list records that a revocation happened; it is not a list of organizations currently under revocation.
The listing records what happened then.
Publication 78 shows our status now.
Are donations to VR Foundation tax-deductible?
Yes. VR Foundation appears in IRS Publication 78, the official list donors may rely upon when determining whether charitable contributions are deductible.
As always, deductibility depends on an individual donor’s circumstances and applicable tax law.
Why doesn’t the public IRS page show a reinstatement date?
The IRS public record confirms our present eligibility but does not display the complete administrative trail following the 2021 event. We are reviewing the original correspondence and obtaining an updated IRS affirmation letter so that the supporting paperwork is as clear as the current status.
Has this affected VR Foundation’s work?
No. We continue to file the required annual returns and carry out our mission: funding vitiligo research, supporting patients, and pushing this neglected disease out of the shadows.
Paperwork matters. The mission matters more.
We take care of both.
